Laura has seven years of experience supporting community organizations to further their goals through data analysis, visualization, and data capacity building.
Before joining Strength in Numbers, Laura led the statistics team at Measure of America, a program of the Social Science Research Council. There she produced reports and built data tools focused on human development, inequality, and social policy for groups including the Los Angeles County government, the Latino Community Foundation, San Diego Workforce Partnership, and youth services organizations across the country. Her analysis and visualization work has appeared in The New York Times, ProPublica, Gothamist, The Trace, THE CITY, CalMatters and on WNYC.
Laura holds a BA in Physics with a minor in Statistics from Swarthmore College. Her areas of expertise include mapping and geospatial analysis, data visualization and information design, and facilitation and training. She also has a background in education and community organizing.
