Arcus Foundation

Strength in Numbers worked with the Arcus Foundation on a regional analysis of survey data on the organizational structure and funding of trans and intersex groups globally. 340 groups participated in the initial survey in 2013. The reanalysis examined differences between regions and resulted in a report and fact sheets for funders on regions and topics (i.e.: people living with HIV, sex work, transmen and transwomen) with sufficient respondents. The report also included three case studies on trans work and funding globally. Data have been instrumental for trans and intersex groups to advocate for resources that meet their needs and for funders to inform their strategies to align with community priorities.

We also worked with Arcus Foundation’s Looking Back to Learn project, which required interviews with LGBTQ activists, service providers and other grant recipients. This work enabled Arcus Foundation’s staff to reflect on and improve their grant making in the years to come.
