Abby El-Shafei

Abby has five years of experience conducting research and evaluation for organizations across the US, Europe, and the Middle East. As a Senior Research Associate at Strength in Numbers Consulting Group, she works on mixed-methods research and provides research and evaluation services, including project management, technical assistance, data collection, analysis, and client stewardship. She is committed to utilizing community-centered research as a social justice tool to advocate for the needs and interests of marginalized communities and works with clients as an ally to understand their research needs.

Before joining Strength in Numbers, Abby was a Research Officer at Forcier Consulting’s Middle East and North Africa Unit based in Cairo, Egypt. She conducted program evaluations and labor market assessments in neighboring Sudan, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon. She received her Master of Arts in International Human Rights Law at the American University in Cairo and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Stony Brook University. Her areas of interest include poverty reduction, community-based participatory action research, equity, and inclusion. She is passionate about using research to uplift the voices of those impacted by programs and services.
