Rainbow Heights Club (RHC), a day facility for LGBTQ adults with severe and persistent mental illness, provides training to public mental health professionals about how to ask about the sexual orientations and gender identities in sensitive and clinically useful ways and to use best practices when working with LGBTQ people. When RHC wanted to improve their training and create a nuanced but not lengthy questionnaire to evaluate these trainings, they called upon Strength in Numbers to partner with them in a survey design and curriculum restructuring project. As a result, RHC is confident that their methods change the attitudes, behaviors and skills of public mental health professionals and that they are evaluating their work in a rigorous but efficient manner over the long term.
